Year One: Wrapped!

Whoa baby! Happy 2024! Not only is it so good to be in a new calendar year, it’s even better that we’ve been in business for one year! Our official anniversary is January 2nd, but we celebrated a little early in December before the holiday hustle and bustle hit. Big shoutout to, The Wolf’s Tailor, so happy we could celebrate over the best 6 courses in town.

We couldn’t have done it without the support of all who booked, shared, encouraged, and all around championed us!

The highlights!

  • 93 Houses cleaned

  • 139 Toilets cleaned

  • 8 Spaces organized

  • 129 Hours spent organizing

  • 276 Hours spent cleaning

Top things we learned

Audrey smiles softly and has her hand up to her forehead like she's tired, she holds a handful of labels printed from a label maker in her hand
  • It takes time to have good systems and practices. Even if you think you have an idea of something, only time and movement the actually help things take shape

  • It’s better to take your time with something to get it right, then to push just to get something out (like branding, marketing content, website, merchandise, etc.)

  • Overestimate job times (lol) it always takes longer than you think

  • If a task is taking way too long, is an eye sore on your to do list, or you juuuust can’t seem to tackle it, hiring out is worth the investment more times than not

Top Moments

  • The Combs Garage organizing project. We’ve said it at least 100 times already, but this project was so fun and special and it will forever be a highlight.

  • The moment we were reviewed the calendar year, took a step back, and were truly able to see the growth that took place each month.

  • A pantry organization project we did in September. The clients letting us know how much it changed their day-to-day life still has us smiling.

  • The day we launched the website + branding. It felt so good to have a landing place and visuals to help represent who we are and what we’re about.

  • The day our new dyson arrived in the mail.

Honorable Mentions

  • Lane Geurkink:  I reached out to Lane in *almost* the same moment AOK was born… so like, on day one. I knew I wanted her to do our branding, and man did she deliver. Working with Lane was everything—smooth, understanding, trusting, kind, and fun. We had so many ideas at the jump, but nothing was quite coming into focus in the realm of colors, font, etc. Lane took time to sit with our values and not only helped us define who we were, but brought her years of design knowledge to play and wowza—it’s all just perfect. Thank you, Lane. I really am so grateful you’re out here, designing and playing.

  • Maggie Boyd Hare: Maggie is a genius when it comes to not only web design, but also copy writing. Maggie has put hours into the AOK website and blogs, and we’ve had many phone calls to help brainstorm and move the business into new and exciting places. Bonus, she’s my sister – which really makes things cute and collaborative on a whole other level. Thank you so, so much. Couldn’t have done this without you! Your little magic touches will forever be apart of the brand and I’m so glad of that.

  • Lettered West: You are a dream! Thank you for the loveliest business cards a person could ask for! You gave AOK the gift of a tiny warm welcome we can extend to friends and strangers alike.

  • Marcel Venter: Thanks for always being a sounding board, a source of light, reminding me of my “why,” and believing in anything I put my mind to.

  • Caleb Wren: The coolest kid on the block, funniest person in the room, dearest husband. Thank you for getting excited over all the details with me, for all my tiny wins, and all the big ones. Wouldn’t want to do this thing with anyone else.

  • Annnnnd! Thank YOU! For being here, supporting, following along, booking, sharing! We’ve felt every ounce of support and it made this year so beautiful and full!

We cannot wait for all to come in year two. Giddy up!
