Before and After: Realm
The Deets
Realm is a natural light photo studio and event space here in Denver, Colorado. They have worked hard to create smooth, efficient, and seamless systems for their employees and studio rental guests. We continue to be impressed and inspired not only by the organization of Realm, but the intention behind it – anything the Realm team puts together is lovely and thoughtful. When we were asked to step in for some behind the scenes help, we couldn’t say “Yes!” fast enough. We decided to start with their maintenance closet—for Realm to operate well externally, they need to be organized internally, all the way down to the maintenance closet. It was an ideal project for us and we’re so glad to add to the beauty of their space. Thanks for asking us, Realm!
Key Client Goals
A quick-repair-kit—where the most-used tools were easy to grab and go
Removal of items that they no longer needed (floating shelves, counter top scraps, overly used paint trays)
Clear labeling so that their employees could maintain the new systems
Play by Play
Cleared everything out of the closet
Cleaned up the big scratches on the walls with a magic eraser
Cleaned the baseboards
Vacuumed
Sorted through all the bins: hardware, tools, painting supplies, etc
Adjusted the shelf heights of the metal shelf (we decided to re-use this item to keep things simple, cost low, and keep the footprint in the closet condensed)
Started organizing the new mesh bins (here’s what we used for the grab and go bins / the four larger bins. )
Put things back in the closet
Final touches (velcro for the cords, securing the lamp cord, labeling the storage bins, and folding the moving blankets for the top of the shelf).
